April is Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Awareness Month and this month you can get yourself tested for free! Since many STDs display no active symptoms, most are very surprised to learn that they are been living with one.
Student Health Services, in partnership with the Tampa-Hillsborough Action Plan (THAP), will be offering free confidential STD tests to a limited number of USF students as a part of STD awareness month. Use this as an opportunity to get tested free of charge and to fulfill an unwritten social responsibility to yourself and others.
Students can get tested for gonorrhea, chlamydia and HIV. The gonorrhea and chlamydia tests results will be available in one to two weeks. The HIV results, however, will be available before you leave the clinic.
- One in four college students have an STD.
- 19 million new STDs occur every year.
- 80% of people with STDs experience no noticeable symptoms
