NEDAwareness Week activities and events bring people together in creative, engaging ways to raise awareness about the seriousness of eating disorders and the many resources available to those affected. Check out the list of events happening around the University of South Florida from Feb. 17-26.


Wed., Feb. 17- Fri., Feb. 19

Tunnel of Oppression

The nationally-recognized Tunnel of Oppression, an event held at the University of South Florida, exposes students to their own privilege or their own oppression. In the Tunnel, student volunteers act out several skits, each showing a different form of oppression.  A wall of photo images and statistics will also be shown that visitors can observe. Topics such as race, sexuality and everyday student-felt pressures are brought to the forefront.

Love Your Genes Display

Love your body at any size and spread awareness about eating disorders. All donated jeans will be put on display during National Eating Disorder Awareness Week. Visit the Morsani College to view some of the jeans and celebrate being healthy at every size!

Love Your Genes Display

Whether you are heading to class or grabbing a bite to eat at the MSC, you definitely don’t want to miss the  Love Your Genes Display at the Marshall Student Center. Celebrate your genes and join others in spreading awareness about eating disorders during National Eating Disorder Awareness Week.

Time: All Day

Eating Disorder Awareness Fair

Receive tips and more at the Eating Disorder Awareness Fair. This is the time to share what you love about your body. You are more beautiful than you know. Show your support for National Eating Disorder Awareness Week by attending the fair and participating in a variety of activities lead by students groups and campus department.

Time: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Mindfulness Meditation

Drop-in the Counseling Center to experience Mindfulness Meditation. You can gain knowledge and learn effective techniques that will help you to ease your mind and relax. Join us!

Learning to Let Go

Do you have a case of the worries? Drop-in on Tuesday during NEDAW and learn to let the stress and worries go. We understand the pressures of school, work, friends and family can be tough. Receive tips and more on how to handle these worries at Learning to Let Go.

Wednesday, Feb. 24

Lunch & Learn w/ IAEDP

Join the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals – Tampa Bay Chapter for a lunch and learn. Ask questions and learn more about the Chapter.
